PSL - The wolf and the lionness.

[So okay, maybe he didn't mean to fall back into her life. When you're a rehabilitated (or rehabilitating, as she pointed out more then once) vampire trying to retain some sort of normal life it's hard to find things that make sense. The two things that do are Sookie Stackhouse - McDonald (I changed it back! she'd shout.) and his son.

That keeps him human on the bad days. Keeps him to TruBlood and Pig's blood when he can stomach it. It keeps him working legal cases from home and not answering every time Wolfram and Hart calls. They do call. He isn't fired (you can't be fired Mr. McDonald. Ever.) He's on sabbatical, indefinite sabbatical - but he's not thinking about that tonight.

Mostly because tonight he woke up not as hungry as he normally was, not as painfully aware of the heartbeats in his house. Jason was gone, the baby wasn't some sort of tender little morsel he wanted to eat. He stirred as the sun fell below the horizon and felt almost like a man. He's dedicated time to making amends to his baby and the woman he loves (It's real love, even when the fog of Darla clouds for a heartbeat he knows he loved her) Which is probably why he appears at the kitchen table where she's playing with the baby. He's showered, at least. There's no fresh grave smell and he's...not aiming to spook her for once. No sarcastic remarks.]

I could watch the two of you forever.

[Just pure charm. His nostrils flare. So they're not...entirely alone. Shame but probably for the best. There have been...bad nights.]

It's cute as hell.
